Little Shop of Horrors

A nerdy florist finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed.

L, N, and I watched this when we thought we were going to see the play. I will not hold that against the movie though. Ellen Greene was there to sing a song, talk about the movie, and answer questions from the audience.

Somehow I do not think I have ever sat through this movie all at one time. This is a fun movie with some, good songs, and really great puppets and puppetry.

If you cannot tell from that little bit of an intro I really enjoy the puppet for Audrey 2

The main cast is great but this movie has a great supporting cast and I am sorry but I want more of Steve Martin doing whatever this is. Bill Murray opposite Martin is an excellent scene and I laughed a lot.

I really enjoyed the hightened reality of the movie and am glad they filmed on a set versus making things look too realistic. Despite Greene’s description at the screening, this is a campy movie and I would not have it any other way.

The music is fun with “Prologue (Little Shop of Horrors)”, “Dentist!”, and “Feed Me” being my favorites.

Audrey 2 steals the show for me.

There are so many things in this movie that remind me of Rocky Horror. The opening narrator, the use of the word ‘horror’, the greaser motor cycle guy, and the song about how that greaser guy is no good.
