Eternal Darkness Sanity's Requiem
I read a post recently with a prompt like “What is a game you think about fondly every so often?” Honestly, the prompt was better than that but you get the idea. The one game that came to mind for me was “Eternal Darkness Sanity’s Requiem.” My roommate in college rented it a few times from the Family Video and I had a lot of fun just watching the playthrough. I have been a fan of lets plays for a long time it seems.
This game is unique having been a Nintendo published, Mature rated game released exclusively on the Game Cube. I watched this The Completionist video on his playthrough and it was a lot of fun. The game is like a Resident Evil with magick, eldritch horrors, and a sanity bar that when depleted makes the game do weird things. Walk on ceilings, sink into the floor, mute, and volue settings change to name a few.
The added sanity resource control and the impact to the game really makes this one fun. The visual style really works for this sort of game and the combat system seems a lot more fun than Resident Evil. I still just really get a kick out of the insanity events.
