I feel like this may just be a little bit extra but I got a little excited that Grocy had a headline element that reads, “ERP beyond your fridge.” This self hosted app enables you to maintain an inventory of your groc(er)y items among other things.
I haven’t populated it with an inventory yet as I imagine filling it up would be quite time consuming so I’m going to start loading it up with what we’re using most often and build out from there. It seems like the sort of thing I would have to maintain myself if I want it as I don’t think I’m convincing anyone else to update the inventory on food they eat.
I am curious if anyone has had this running for any significant amount of time.
Like FreshRSS and Immich, Grocy can be installed via Docker and reverse proxied very easily. The iOS app can be linked via a QR code which I thought was very convenient. After some reading online it does sound like there are some limitations with the mobile app. I’ll follow up with my findings on that and the service in general after some testing.
There is a lot to explore with the way ingredients interact with recipes and expiration dates can be tracked to help prevent throwing away food.
This is day 62 of #100DaysToOffload.
